He retired from the SC Department of Transportation and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple.Survivors include his wife, of the home; his children, Betty Davis, Preston Brown, Willene Machen; step-children, Betty Clardy, Robert and Jerry Hammond; 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Ruby H. Brown; a daughter, Ruby Nell Brown; sisters, Ethel Rouke, Delma Baker, Marie Burdette, Georgia Bell Smith and Mildred Moore. Allen was the last surviving member of his immediate family.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Temple officiated by the Reverends Sam Duncan and Phillip E. Clardy. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
