FRANCES AGNEW June 30, 1927 - April 2, 2008 ANDERSON, SC Frances Rose Leonard Agnew, 80, loving wife of the late Judge E. Harry Agnew, died on April 2, 2008 in Anderson. Mrs. Agnew was a daughter of the late Reverend Robert Lee Leonard and Ida Ruth Brannon Leonard. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, she was born on June 30, 1927 and spent many years of her childhood at Epworth Children's Home in Columbia. She was educated in the public school system and graduated in 1948 from Columbia College, which she attended on a music scholarship. After serving for two years as Educational Director for St. John's Methodist Church, she married E. Harry Agnew of Starr, SC on May 20, 1950.Mrs. Agnew was a member of the Junior Assembly of Anderson, the Anderson Garden Club, and the Margaret Mitchell Study Club. A talented musician and dedicated teacher, she served in musical capacities at St. John's United Methodist Church, Boulevard Baptist Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Seneca and Young Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Anderson where she was a member. She was also active in various civic organizations and was a beloved music teacher and mentor for many young musicians throughout the years. Surviving Mrs. Agnew are her children Patricia Agnew of Charleston, SC; Harrison Agnew and wife Amanda of Laurens, SC; Reverend Parker Agnew and wife Anne of Perry, GA; State Representative Paul Agnew and wife Robyn of Due West, SC; and David Agnew and wife Lela of Charleston, SC as well as her brother Robert Leonard of New Orleans, LA; her four grandchildren, Mary Frances Agnew, Susanna Agnew, Dallas Agnew and Shawn Oakley; nieces, nephews and her dear friend Verdelle Williams of Anderson. In addition to Mrs. Agnew's husband and parents, she was predeceased by son Hugh Agnew; daughter Carol Agnew; brother Harold Leonard and sisters Mary Drummond, Anne Walz and Leona Luntz.PAGE TWO MRS. FRANCES AGNEW OBITUARY The Funeral Service was held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Young Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and conducted by Dr. L. Thomas Richie. A Private Family Committal Service will follow in the New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family received friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2008.
