BOWMAN JULY 5, 1922 - June 27, 2011IVA, SC ' Frances Elizabeth Kates Bowman, age 88,of 217 Ray McMahan Road, Iva, SC., wife of Lee 'Pappy'R. Bowman, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011, at her home.Born in Anderson, SC, on July 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Guy S. Kates, Sr. and Elsie Franks Kates. Mrs. Bowman was a legal secretary in Anderson for many years.She had served many lawyers and had retired from the Chapman & Lawing Law Firm. She was a faithful Christian and very devoted member of the Rocky River Baptist Church. She served in many church capacities; past president of the WMU, Sunday school teacher, played the piano and a choir member, she was also a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class.Surviving in addition to her husband is sons; S. Grey Bowman, Sr., and his wife, Kayleigh, of Pickens, SC., Roger Lee Bowman and his wife, Susan, of Iva, five grandchildren: Hannah Clark, Samuel Grey Jr.,Alex Bowman, Beth Bowman, and Liam Bowman, six great grandchildren, a brother, Guy S. Kates, Jr., of Murrells Inlet, and a sister Dorothy Trusler, of Belvedere, SC.She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Kathleen K. Humphries.The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Rocky River Baptist Church conducted by the Reverends Bobby Jones and Steven Payne. Interment will follow in the Rocky River Baptist Church Cemetery.
