Frances Gambrell Bryant, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at NHC Anderson surrounded by her loving family members. Born in Greenwood, SC on January 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Watson Gambrell and the late Mamie Cummings Gambrell. She worked in textiles for most of her life where she retired. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Clyde D. Hill, Jr. (Nancy), Dennis W. Hill (Maria), Gary T. Hill, Barry E. Bryant, all of Honea Path, SC, and Robert W. Bryant, of Anderson, SC; daughters, Kathy H. Burgess (Larry) of Honea Path, SC, Wanda B. Reece (Marcel) of Anderson, SC, Donna B. Reed (Tommy) of Pendleton, SC, and Heather B. Beckham (Robert) of Easley, SC; a brother, Johnny Shaw (Pat); a sister, Sara Merck (Richard); a special sister-in-law Lillie Gambrell; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Elias Robert Bryant, Jr. to which she was a devoted and loving wife for 41 years; brothers, Jerry, Walter, Jimmy and Billy Gambrell; sisters, Bobbie Jo Shaw and "Little Sister" Sarah Gambrell; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverends Barry Davis and Richard Merck officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, on Wednesday, September 7, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff of NHC for the love and care provided for the past two years, and a very special thanks to Andrea Dodson.
