Frances Lucille Trammell Calvo, age 96, of Anderson, beloved widow of Randolph S. Calvo, Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, August 1, 2016, at National Health Care of Anderson. Born in Greenville, SC on October 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Carl Hosea Trammell and the late Ella Rose Benson Trammell.
Following her graduation from Spartanburg High School, Mrs. Calvo worked with the telephone company in Spartanburg. While there she attended a USO dance at Camp Croft where she met the love of her life, Randolph S. Calvo, Sr. They married and moved to Anderson in 1946. Mrs. Calvo was a faithful member of Central Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the women's circles. Frances was an amazing homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother, and later a grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family remembers her excellence in cooking and as a seamstress. She loved bowling and was an avid golfer. She was responsive to the needs of others in so many ways. Mrs. Calvo will be missed by all her family and friends who loved her dearly.
Survivors include a son, Randolph S. Calvo, Jr. and his wife, Dyann, of Athens, GA; two daughters, Sylvia Calvo-Fowler of Anderson, and Catherine Knobel and her husband, Barry, also of Anderson; a brother, Edward Trammell and his wife, Virginia, of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Ann-Denise Cain and husband, Scott, Kathleen Nalley and husband, Erik, Kelly Calvo and wife, Jenny, Kari Camp and husband, Drew, Blair Knobel and Andrew Knobel; ten great-grandchildren, Jordan Cain, Alyssa Cain, Elijah Nalley, Lennon Nalley, Daegan Moore, Cooper Camp, Calvo Camp, Camden Camp, Bear Calvo, and Beau Calvo. Also surviving is a special friend, Buck Newton of Anderson.
In addition to her husband, Randolph, who died in 2013, and parents, Frances was preceded in death by two brothers, Tyler Trammell and Frank Trammell.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of NHC Unit 6 for the loving care provided to their mother during her residence. They also express appreciation to the many friends who have been lifting Frances and all of the Calvo family up in prayer during Mrs. Calvo's illness. They respectfully request that in lieu of your presence at the private burial your continued prayers will be appreciated. There is no visitation scheduled.
