FRANCES P. CHITWOOD September 24, 1930 - November 2, 2012 Frances Mize Chitwood, age 82, of Anderson, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, November 2, 2012, when she passed away at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late S. Wesley Mize and the late L.E. Lewis Mize. For 42 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Charles A. Chitwood until his death in 1992. Mrs. Chitwood lived most of her life in the home in which she was born. Most of her career was in retail sales in the domestics department at Sky City of Anderson. She was a graduate of Girl's High in Anderson. Frances was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include 4 sons, Sam Chitwood (Peggy) of Simpsonville, SC, Mike Chitwood (Kathy) of Westminster, SC, Norman Chitwood and Jimmy Chitwood both of Anderson; a daughter, Diane Steele (John) of Greer, SC; also surviving are 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley, Sally and Florence Mize, and a brother, Samuel Wesley Mize. A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Chitwood will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at 2 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Old Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at their respective residences and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, from 12 noon until 1:30 PM.
