Frances Roper Manning, age 81, wife of Cleland Manning, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Iva Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born in Pickens County, SC on July 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Lenora M. and David D. Roper. Frances finished Liberty High School and Forest College, and worked as secretary/bookkeeper at Utica Mohawk and Clemson University. After marriage, she worked at Holman Insurance, Maxwell Furniture, and retired from the Finance Department of the City of Anderson. She was a past matron of the Iva chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was an organist at several different churches. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Cleland Manning of Iva; sister, Joyce Roper Manning of Starr; brother, C.W. Roper of Liberty; and many nieces and nephews she claimed as her own. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Whitlock and Louise Chapman; and brothers, L.J. "Bud" and Kenneth Roper. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 2:30 pm at Union Baptist Church with the Reverends Jeff Roper and Mike McMillion officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Saturday, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
