FRANCES SITTON WATKINS August 17, 1916 - July 13, 2006ANDERSON, SCMrs. Frances Sitton Watkins, age 89, wife of the late William Law Watkins, died July 13, 2006 in Anderson. Mrs. Watkins was born in Autun, SC on August 17, 1916, to Augustus J. Sitton and Sarah McPhail Sitton. She was educated in Pendleton and Anderson schools and at Anderson College and Winthrop College. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker who not only raised four daughters, but was the primary caregiver for her father-in-law for twenty-five years and for her mother until her death at age 101. She had an humble, selfless heart, always seeking to do good for others. She has supported Anderson County Woman's Club since it's founding. She and her late husband were recently named Philanthropist of the Year for the Tri-County Technical College Foundation. Mrs. Watkins is survived by a sister, Leila Sitton Stringer of Atlanta, GA; four daughters, Jane Mudd and husband, Roger of Anderson, SC, Betsy Kinghorn and husband, Andy of Beaufort, SC, Anna Hattaway and husband, Sandy of Raleigh, NC and Sally Marshall and husband, Allen of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.Following a family committal service at Old Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, a Memorial Service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 15, 2006 officiated by Dr. David J. Bailey and Dr. Martin L. Harkey, Jr.. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the Memorial Service. By request of the family, flowers are to be omitted.
