Frances Louise Whitten White, age 95, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at her residence. Born in Asheville, NC she was the daughter of the late Claude and Lillian Hambey Sumpter. She retired from Singer Company in the Quality Control Department. Frances was a faithful member of the former Bethel Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Bryson and her husband D.A. of Dayton Beach, FL; step-children, Tommy White and his wife Lynn, of Anderson, SC, Tim White and his wife Nancy, of GA, and Melissa Smith Stone and her husband Roger of Anderson, SC; a sister, Barbara Snipes, of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Nimrod Whitten; her second husband, John T. White; a son, Larry M. James; two sisters, Mary Sosebee and Ruby Parks; and a brother, Claude Sumpter, Jr. The Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
