Francis did post graduate work in Business Administration at Clemson-Furman. Francis served in U.S. Navy and was a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Services inactive reserves.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Anderson University, 316 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201, or the charity of one's choice.
