Francis Edrew "Red" Skelton, Sr., age 90, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born in Anderson County, SC on October 8, 1927, he was a son of the late Roy Frank and Aldie Elkansas Lowie Skelton. He proudly served his country in three branches of the military, the Navy, the Army Air Corp, and finally the Air Force. Edrew served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, earning three awards of merit and a scientific achievement award. He was a pilot for more than 35 years and took his last flight on his 90th birthday. He enjoyed operating the HAM radio, working with law enforcement and being a grass-roots politician, but he was most fond of his family, being steadfast in his commitment to them. His children remember him as being known as the "family comedian". He is survived by his three loving children, J.R. Skelton and his wife Betsy, of Alabama, Boyce Skelton, of Williamston, and Carol Wilkins, of Georgia; a brother, Glenn Skelton and his wife Norma, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Kathryn Feltman, and her husband Bill, of Anderson, SC; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Skelton who passed away in 2009. Edrew has joined numerous brothers and sisters in his Heavenly home. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Williamston Church of God with Reverend Gene Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of Mr. Skelton and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Williamston Church of God, 12 West 1st Street, Williamston, SC 29697.
