Manley Elrod, of 1006 Whiten Road, died Friday, June 27, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson on May 31, 1942, Mr. Elrod was the son of Frances Browning Elrod of Anderson and the late Shirley Elrod. He was employed by Darby Metalworks for over 25 years. He enjoyed his family, friends and working in his yard and garden. Mr. Elrod was a United States Army Paratrooper and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include, his son, Robert 'Robbie' Elrod and wife, Sadrina and their children, Lauren, Ali, and Seth of Belton, SC; daughters, Rita Elrod Hammond and husband, Gary and their children, Brandon Frank Elrod and Whitney Fleming and her husband, Noah and their children, Mikayla Griffin, Bryce and Lillie Fleming and Vicky Elrod Whitten and husband, Russel and their daughter, Brittany, all of Anderson; two sisters, Shirley White and Teresa Hatcher, both of Anderson.The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Larry Baldwin and Steve Rickets. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.The family will be at the home of Vicky Whitten, 403 Greenbrair Lane, Anderson.Flowers are optional.
