Franklin Delano Skelton, age 84, passed away on December 16, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Anderson, SC, on May 25, 1933, he was the son of the late Roy Frank Skelton and the late Aldie Skelton. Franklin proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. He worked as a truck driver for John Boiter Inc., and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Joann Lecroy Skelton; sons, Roy F. Skelton (Melissa), Kenneth Lane Byrum, and Steve McKinley Byrum (Wendy); daughters, Margaret Delree Sears (Al), Peggy Matthews, Tammy Wages (Ken), Kendal Matthews, and Kaili and Kagen Emery; brothers, Francis Edrew Skelton and Jerry Glenn Skelton (Norma); sister, Katherine Feltman (Billy); brother-in-law, Larry Strickland; sister-in-law, Gayle Skelton; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his sons, George Leland Skelton and Franklin Delano Skelton, Jr.; brothers, Ariel and A.T Skelton; and sisters, Etruilia Watt, Mary Lyone, and Brenda Strickland. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Tammy and Ken Wages, 2407 Airline Rd., Anderson, SC 29624.
