Franklin Lewis Chamblee, age 87, of Hephzibah, GA, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at University Hospital in Augusta.
He was born September 13, 1933 in Anderson, SC, and was a son of the late Albert Chamblee and Helen McGee Chamblee. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn "Sissy" Chamblee.
Franklin was a self-employed crane operator for 40 years and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 470. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Hope Chapel in Grovetown, GA.
He is survived by his wife, Frances L. Heyward Chamblee; daughter, Kay Chamblee of Augusta, GA; stepsons, David Luther (Sondra) of Evans, GA, Larry Luther (Bobbie) of North Augusta, SC, and Randy Luther (Linda) of Athens, GA; brother, Ned Chamblee of Anderson, SC; sister-in-law, Carolyn Dyson of Waynesboro, GA; niece, Tammy Eubanks of Waynesboro, GA; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at The McDougald Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at Old Silver Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
