The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, SC 29621864-224-4343OBITUARY w/photo FLAG FRANK YOUNG June 16, 1929 - May 5, 2009 IVA, SCFrank Eugene Young, age 79, of 9316 Highway 81 South, husband of Patricia Parnell Young, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Iva, SC on June 16, 1929, Mr. Young was a son of the late William 'Will' and Allie Jones Young. He was a graduate of Iva High School. He moved to Augusta, GA where he lived for over 50 years before returning to Iva. He retired from Savannah River Site with 42 years of service and was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 50 years in Augusta, GA, and was on the Board of Deacons, a Sunday School Teacher and on numerous church boards. After moving back to the Iva area, he was a member of Lowndesville Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of Deacons. He served on the Board of Trustees for Tom Cox World Ministries and did volunteer mission work in South Africa and Peru. He was best known for his great wit and his walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. One of his greatest enjoyments was time spent with his family and friends. He also enjoyed helping with the former family restaurant where he became reacquainted with old friends and made many new ones.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Parnell Young of the home; children; Carlos Young and his wife, Barbara of Evans, GA, Gary Young and his wife, Glendaof New Ellenton, SC and Tammy Goodin-Shell and her husband, Terry Shell of Iva; brother, Dr. W. H. Young of Williamston, SC; nine grandchildren, Dockery and Allie Young, Carla Parker and her husband, Bill, Emma Young, Tyler and Zachary Goodin, Travis Young, Dustin Young and his wife, Kristen and Brandon Young; three great-grandchildren, Zion and Zoe Young and Hazel Franklynn Parker.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Delphin, Bruce, Tom, J. O., and Leroy Young and sisters, Naomi Young, Ena Welborn, Ethel McBride, Ruth Brock and Karen Young. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Fred Griggs, and Reverend Dr. Tom Cox. The Eulogy will be given by his grandson, Dustin Young. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
