FRED WATERS September 5, 1917 - February 26, 2013 ANDERSON, SC Fred Griffin Waters, age 95, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Emeritus at Anderson Place. Born in Williamston, SC, he was the son of the late James Perry Waters and the late Maggie Rhodes Waters. He was a mechanic with the State Highway Department, where he worked for over 25 years until his retirement. Fred enjoyed showing his trick-horse, Tammy to many youth and church groups. Fred was a member of First Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a member of the Baraca Sunday School class and sang in the Baraca choir. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Murphy and her husband Jerry, of Anderson; one grandson, Mitchell Murphy; and a number of nieces and nephews. Fred was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Baker Waters; two brothers, Rufus and Manning Waters; and five sisters, Mary Breazeale, Naomi Earle, Ruth Wilson, Donnie Shirley and Bertha Blackston. The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 3:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Reverend William R. French officiating. The family with gather for a time of visitation following the service. The family will be at the home of his daughter, 2707 Midway Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
