Frederick John Smith, 84, husband of Carolyn Roberts Smith, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Pottsville, PA, on September 1, 1933, Rick was the son of the late Dorothy Pflueger Smith and Joseph Smith. Rick served his country with pride in the United States Air Force turning it into a lifelong career where he later retired. He then worked and retired from the United States Postal Service where he also coordinated the Anderson County Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive for over 25 years. Rick served on the Board for Guardian ad Litem for foster children and was a member of Freedom Center Church. In addition to his wife Carolyn, Rick is survived by his daughters, Janet White Nichols (Jason) and Sandra Smith Morris (Jeff); six grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Kyle Smith, Erick White (Angela), Adam White, Nathan White and Kara Morris; and three great-grandchildren, Christian White, Trenton Smith and Jayce White. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by a son, Keith Smith; brother, Joseph Smith; and sisters, Dorothy Carey and Joan Horan. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Freedom Center on Wednesday, January 31 at 11:30 a.m. with Reverends Phil Sears and Donnie Walker officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Neighbor Cupboard, 313 S.
