Derksen February 28, 1939 - October 23, 2008 Anderson, SC Gary John Derksen, age 69, husband of Mary Barbara 'Bobbie' Derksen of Anderson, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 28, 1939, he was the son of the late John B. Derksen and Esther Dorthea Albert Derksen. He was a 1957 graduate of Rufus King High School and a graduate of The Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 50 years and from 1968-1982 he was the owner of Derksen Funeral Home in Elkhorn, WI. Mr. Derksen has been a Pre-Need Funeral Director in several states and in 2004, he re-located to Anderson, SC, where he has since been the Director of Pre-Need at The McDougald Funeral Home. He was an active member of St. Mary of The Angels Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus 4th degree. He is survived by his wife, Mary Barbara 'Bobbie' Derksen, and his sons, William R. 'Bill' Kapinski, Kenneth R. 'Ken' Kapinski, Gary J. 'Derk' Derksen II, Trevor F. Derksen and Antony S. Derksen and his daughters, Kelli S. Derksen and Bindu L. Derksen. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008, at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 1821 White Street, Anderson, SC. The Rev. Father Aubrey McNeil, OFM will officiate.A Prayer Vigil will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at 5:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home with visitation following until 8:00 pm.
