Gary Wayne Lewis, Sr., age 74, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC on March 6, 1942, he was the son of the late L.T. Lewis, Sr. and the late Cora B. Lewis. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He retired from the Flowers Baking Company, and was currently working at Carolina Auto Auction. He was a loving devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Brown Lewis; children, Gary Wayne Lewis, Jr., Amy Lewis Burdette (James), and Michael Shawn Lewis (Susan); brother, L.T. Lewis, Jr.; grandchildren, Haley Adair (Chris), Caitlin and Kinsey Lewis, and Dekota and Mae Burdette; great-grandchildren, Ayden Adair and Audrey Burns; and his devoted Weimaraner, Hunley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aubree Lee Lewis; and sisters, Brenda Lewis and Diane Williams. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. with the Reverend Sam Duncan officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
