Ira Eugene Crocker, age 59, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Born March 5, 1963, in Anderson, he was the son of Sylvia Gilreath Crocker and the late Rev. Ira Josephus Crocker. Gene was a graduate of Midland Valley High School in Graniteville, SC and worked in manufacturing at both Owens Corning Fiberglass and BMW. He enjoyed traveling and loved his fur babies and his family. Gene was known for his giving heart, his love for life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his husband, Kevin Michael Elward; sisters, Teresa Lollis (Randal), and Missy Simpson (Tony); beloved nieces and nephews, Joshua, Jonathan, Sean, Randi Jean, Mary Kate, Abby, Anna, Colleen, Savannah, and Patrick; 11 great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Barbara Elward; brothers-in-law, Matthew Elward and John Elward (Kara); and sisters-in-law, Alison Elward and Jaimie Mercer (Galen). In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Robert Crocker; and father-in-law, John Elward. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 3:00-5:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Joshua Lollis and Rev. Jonathan Lollis officiating.
