Gene Ramsey Anderson, SC Charles Eugene "Gene" Ramsey, age 71, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Rainey Hospice House, after a 13 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born in Anderson, SC, on August 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Robert E. L. Ramsey and the late Lottie Addis Ramsey. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 until 1964. Gene retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company after more than 40 years of dedicated service. He was a Mason in the Hiram Lodge of Anderson, SC, a Shriner in the Hejaz Lodge of Greenville, SC, and was a member of Crime Stoppers in Anderson, SC. He was a member of Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church, Townville, SC. Gene always had a smile on his face and a hug to give away. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Theresa E. Ramsey, of the home; his children, who were the light of his life, Dee Dee Ramsey McClure and her fianc, Tony Jordan, of Anderson, SC, Tina Ramsey Watt and her husband Tim, of Pendleton, SC , and Tim Ramsey and his wife Shannon, of Anderson, SC; brothers, James Ramsey and his wife Jo Ann, of Donalds, SC and Jerry Ramsey and his wife Martha, of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren, Brittany Sammons, Kyler Watt and his fianc Amanda Terrell, Kelsey Ramsey, Blake Watt, and Karley Ramsey; one great-granddaughter, Serina Watt; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Judy Hames and Pastor Paul Cheezem officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service, on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
