Doris Geneva Hyder Chapman, age 94, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, at her home. Born August 27, 1926 in Henderson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Adam Keasler Hyder and Laura Cornelia Hyder. She was married for 51 years to Martin Austin Chapman until his death in 1998. Geneva graduated from Dana High School in Hendersonville, NC at the age of 16, at the beginning of WWII. Following her graduation, she worked for Williams Dry Cleaners and Williams Real Estate. After the war, she met her husband, Martin, and they moved to Anderson, SC where she worked for Zeigler & Taylor Real Estate. After the birth of her daughters, she decided to stay at home for a while until they were older and then she began an 18-year career at the Vocational Rehabilitation Center from which she retired. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Henderson (Mike) and Karen C. Moser (Don); grandchildren, Amanda Hunnicutt, Erica Davis (Trey), Josh Henderson (Michele), Craig Henderson, Madeline Durham (Justin), and Stephen Moser; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn C. Kelley; sisters, Amy Allison and Florence Stepp; and 13 half-siblings. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 12:30-1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 pm with Rev. Roy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
