GENEVA "JENNY" GUNNELS On Sunday, May 3, 2015, the Angels came to take Geneva "Jenny" Shiflet Gunnels to heaven upon her death at Exalted Health and Rehab of Iva. Mrs. Gunnels, age 84, of 406 W. Broad Street, Iva, was the daughter of the late Marie Hinton Ballard. Born on July 14, 1930, in Anderson, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Arthur Julian "A.J." Gunnels until his death in 2012. Mrs. Gunnels was retired after 30 years of employment as a Department Manager with Sears. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Hart and her husband, Bud, of Anderson; three sons, Steve Gunnels and wife, Melanie, of Anderson, Gene Gunnels of Las Vegas, NV, and Ken Gunnels of Anderson; a brother, Julian Ballard of Anderson; a sister Gladys Fleming of Elberton, GA; also surviving are twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to her mother and husband, Jenny was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Carroll; brothers, Wayne, Jerry, and Jesse Ballard. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 1 p.m. at New Silver Brook Cemetery, with Rev. Garrett Hart officiating.
