George Floyd Byrum, age 91, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his residence. Born in Hartwell, GA on April 30, 1925, he was the son of the late Dorsey Byrum and the late Bessie Byrum. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a carpenter and was employed by Duke Power. George is survived by his children, Tommy Byrum and his wife Debbie, and Brenda Bowen and her husband Whitner, all of Anderson, SC; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife: Mary Cleveland Byrum; a son, Aubrey Gene Byrum; and a brother, Bob Byrum. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Sam Duncan officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
