GEORGE CARTER October 12, 1917 - September 18, 2012 ANDERSON, SC George Washington Carter, age 94, of Anderson, passed away on September 18, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Lee County, GA, George was the son of the late Zebulon Carter and Irene Hall Carter. He served in the Civilian Conservations Corps, helping to build Table Rock State Park. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, in North Africa, Italy and Sicily. He retired from Daniel Construction and Davis Mechanical where he helped build numerous manufacturing plants throughout the southeast. George attended Homeland Park Baptist Church, an avid Clemson fan and was a mason and member of the Ruff Lodge. He is survived by his loving daughters, Doris Luckadoo and her husband Bob of Kingsport, TN and Cindy Hanks and her husband Robert of Anderson; four grandchildren, Beth Beam, John Neely and his wife, Michele, Bob Hanks and Matt Hanks; one great-granddaughter, Erika Neely; and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and his long-time friend, Katherine Lingerfelt. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Reverend Danny Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family is at the home of his daughter, Cindy, 656 Masters Boulevard, and will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Homeland Park Baptist Church, 3010 Abbeville Hwy, Anderson, SC 29624.
