George Edward Crawford, age 92, of Chapin, SC, husband of Lynn Altman Crawford, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Dominion Senior Living at Patrick Square in Clemson. He was born on August 23, 1933, in Winnsboro, SC.
George was a graduate of Yale University and was the Environmental Health and Safety Director for Honeywell (formerly Allied Signal) until his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a tactical fighter pilot and weapons controller. He also served in the Reserves where he was promoted from the rank of 1st Lieutenant to Captain. He was a wonderful, Christian man and was baptized in Richmond, VA in 1978. He was a Deacon in three churches throughout his life and was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia where he served in many ministries for over 20 years and was a member of the "God Squad." He followed Christ's example by serving others. His hobbies included carpentry, fishing, boating, and hunting. What he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Laura Berlin (Don), Lee Ann Emory (Jerry), and Julie Janes (Doug); grandsons, Donald C. "Bucky" Berlin (Lauren), Trey Emory and Tyler Emory; and great granddaughters, Leilah and Eliza.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, 2211 N. Main St., Anderson, SC. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am and light refreshments will be served.
The service will be livestreamed via The McDougald Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Columbia or NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness).
