The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, SC 29621864-224-4343OBITUARYFLAG GEORGE GETSINGER June 19, 1925 - July 15, 2009ANDERSON, SCGeorge Stephenson Getsinger, age 84 of Anderson, SC, husband of the late Ruby Jean 'Pud' Kinard Getsinger, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson, SC on June 19, 1925, Mr. Getsinger was a son of the late John Martin Getsinger and Fleeta Lois McClure Getsinger. He served in the United States Army and the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Milliken- Gerrish Plant and had worked at Red's Trading Post. Mr. Getsinger was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple.Survivors include his daughter, Melody Tedards and her husband, Ken of Greenwood; sister, Tullie King of Townville; three grandchildren, Addison Hope Tedards, Jared Michael Hardin and Amber Leigh Hubbard and her husband, Kenny and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lauren Hubbard and Peyton Jacob Hubbard.Two brothers, Johnny S. Getsinger and Thomas Charles Getsinger preceded him in death. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Dr. Glenn Taylor and Reverend Tony Walker. Burial of his ashes will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.The family will be at their respective homes.
