George John Heg, age 86, of 102 Dove Hollow, Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on June 8, 1929 in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of the late Henry Heg and the late Mary Bruckheimer Heg. He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy Sarah Wilkinson Heg until her death in 2006. Mr. Heg proudly served his country in the US Army. While Mr. Heg worked in the manufacturing industry for many years, he enjoyed fishing, golfing and being a world traveler. George was affectionately known by his golfing buddies as "Sidewalk George." Mr. Heg leaves behind three sons, Dennis G. Heg and his wife, Lisa, of Seneca, SC, Larry G. Heg and his wife, Sheila of Kenosha, WI, and Terry S. Heg and his wife, Margaret, of Anderson. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. George was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and his wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Reverent Kurt Stutler officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
