GEORGE JAY LEWIS George Jay Lewis, 88, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Rainey Hospice House, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Columbus, OH, September 15, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Mary Lewis. Mr. Lewis proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II, serving in Germany. He served as an Allied Forces Military Tribunal Guard during the famous Nuremberg Trials. He was a farmer and an independent electrician. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, woodworking and raising cattle. He was always lending a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. George is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Kidner Lewis, of the residence; five daughters, Sherry Huff of Pataskala, OH, Sue Baughman and husband, Ronnie, of Newark, OH, Shirley Bringardner of Anderson, Nancy Ortego and husband, Jeff, of Anderson, and Coleen Lewis of OH; two sons, Robert B. Haines of Coshocton, OH and Stanley Lewis and his wife, Darlene, of Zanesville, OH; two brothers-in-law, Bud Lacy and his wife, June of Dresden, OH, and Gary Kidner and his wife, Susan, of Newark, OH; a special aunt, Ruth McKee of Frazeysburg, OH; also surviving are eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Lewis, a sister, Louise Lacy, a son-in-law, Paul Bringardner, and nephews John and Allen Lacy. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor the life of Geroge Lewis will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of The McDougal Funeral Home, with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Placement of the urn will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Contributions in memory of George Lewis may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
