REVELS November 24, 1927 - August 15, 2008IVA, SCMr. George Thurman Revels, age 80 formerly of 208 W. Poplar Street, Iva, SC, died on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.Born in Iva, SC on November 24, 1927, Mr. Revels was a son the late Frazier A. Revels and Alma Brown Revels. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II from 1945 to 1948, and was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Post #44. He retired from Illinois Central Railroad and later retired from Ryobi Corporation. He attended Iva First Wesleyan Church.He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, David Revels, twins, Melvin and Marvin Revels and Wesley Revels and sisters, Helen Nix, Frances Warren and Lou Allie Crawford.A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 10:30 am at Iva City Cemetery officiated by Mr. Bill Crawford. The family will receive friends at the graveside from 10:00 am to 10:30 am on Monday.The family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O.
