George
Rogers
Mar 8, 1951 — Aug 24, 2026
George Edward Rogers Sr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, to the late Bill Rogers and Francis Swilling, George lived a life defined by steady strength, quiet integrity, and deep dedication to those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying the values of duty, discipline, and honor throughout his entire life. Whether through his hard work, his warm presence, or the simple lessons he passed down, George left an enduring mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all else, George’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a cornerstone of support, always present with steady guidance, good humor, and unwavering encouragement for his sons as they grew. He shared a lifelong connection and enduring partnership with Cathy Creswell, and together they built a close-knit foundation centered on love and devotion. His legacy lives on in the close bonds of the family he built and the values he instilled in each generation—especially through his eight grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness.
George is survived by his ex-wife, Cathy Creswell; his four sons and their wives, Eddie Rogers (Heather), Met Rogers (Erika), Micah Rogers (Jessica), and Dillon Rogers (Hanna); his eight cherished grandchildren, Landon, Tucker, Ella, Lucas, Grace, Briston, Elijah, and Chloe; and his brother, Tony Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roy Cheney.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 2:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with military honors rendered in recognition of his service.
