GEORGE SOKOL April 26, 1924 - June 19, 2007STARR, SCMr. George Edward Sokol, Sr., age 83, husband of Bobbie Greenway Sokol of 1315 Flat Rock Road, Starr, SC, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.Born in Hartwell, GA on April 26, 1924, Mr. Sokol was a son of the late Charles Sokol and Rosalie Bates Sokol. He was a United States Army World War II veteran having served in the European Theatre. He was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas with 30 years of service. Mr. Sokol was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church, a Deacon Emeritus and attended the Men's Bible Class. He was a lifetime member of the Hermon Masonic Lodge #116 and served as Past Master. Mr. Sokol enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, fishing and playing the organ. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Greenway Sokol of the home; son, Ed Sokol and his wife, Sonja of Starr; brother, Fred Sokol of Hartwell, GA; sister, Melba Seymour of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Jonathon Sokol and his wife, Karen of Atlanta, GA and Casey Sokol and his wife, Allison of Belton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Joseph Sokol.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Lloyd Robison officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
