George L. Stuart, age 77, of Townville, SC, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born August 8, 1944, in Pendleton, SC, he was a son of the late Archie L. Stuart and Nellie Whitten Stuart. He was married for 48 years to Ruby Lee Stuart until her death in December 2019. George was a graduate of Pendleton High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a faithful 35 year employee of Michelin until his retirement. George was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and was a member of Barnette Grove. He is survived by his son, James A. Whitman, Jr.; daughter, Renea Stuart; grandchildren, Bradley and Brandon Thacker; brothers, Tommy, Howard and Roy Stuart; and sister, Frances Littleton. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Stuart; and sister, Loretta Moore. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, October 22, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Memory Gardens, Clemson, SC, with Pastor Dale Duckett officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Barnett Grove, 5523 Hwy 187, Anderson, SC 29625. The family will be at the residence.
