GEORGIA COX GOODWIN June 15, 1927 - January 11, 2013 Georgia Cox Goodwin, age 85, of 125 Goodwin Circle, went to her heavenly home on Friday, January 11, 2013, where she is finally enjoying strolling over heaven with her precious husband, Joseph Freeman Goodwin who died in 2000 after a marriage of 51 years. Her death occurred at NHC of Anderson. Born in Oconee County, SC, Mrs. Goodwin was the daughter of the late George Thomas Cox and the late Grace Camiller Hood Cox. Georgia was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church in Pickens County. Survivors include 2 sons: Kenneth Goodwin and his wife, Nina, of Anderson; Joseph Wayne Goodwin of Anderson; 3 daughters: Mildred Furguile and her husband, Mike of Iva; Cathey G. Shaw and husband, Stan, of Anderson; and Joan Chasteen, also of Anderson; 1 brother, T.J. "Bud" Cox of Pickens; 1 sister, Estelle Dodson of Pickens; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and her husband, Joseph, Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Youngblood; grandchildren, Michelle Chasteen and Cindy C. Brown; great grandson, Alex Nathaniel Hollingsworth; and a son-in-law, Norman Chasteen. The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Georgia Goodwin will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Brent White officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends on Monday, January 14, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM at The McDougald Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of NHC of Anderson for the loving care given to Mrs. Goodwin during her residency.
