ANDERSON, SC GERALD "JERRY" McMEEKEN Gerald John "Jerry" McMeeken, age 69, passed on Monday, October 20, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Ewen, MI, on August 22, 1945, he was the son of the late Wendell McMeeken and the late Bertha Pulkkila McMeeken. For thirty years, he was the devoted and loving husband of Carol Henry McMeeken. Jerry proudly served his country in the US Army. For approximately 30 years, he was a Materials and Receiving Manager for the Gibson Refrigerator Company. He was then employed with Anderson School District 5 as Manager of Admin Warehouse, a position from which he retired after 16 years. Mr. McMeeken loved the outdoors, especially golf and boating. He was a self-taught artist and a member of the Anderson Artist Guild. He was the greatest husband, father and "Papa," who loved his grandbabies dearly. Jerry will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Carol, Mr. McMeeken is survived by 2 sons, Todd McMeeken and his wife, June of Belding, MI, and Scott Bowers and his wife, Marcy, of Parma, MI; a daughter, Tonya Gibson and her husband, Duane, of Ada, MI; a brother, James McMeeken and wife, Becky, of Pierson, MI; a sister, Karen Ciganik of Plant City, FL; 5 grandchildren, Hunter Gibson, Jared Israels, Brandon Bowers, Devin Bowers, and Hailey Bowers; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a particularly close uncle, Robert Pulkkila. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, October 24, 2014, from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor the life of Gerald McMeeken will be held at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 4 p.m., with Rev.
