Gerald "Jerry" Vale Purdy, 73, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born September 20, 1946 in Babylon, NY, he was a son of the late Edwards Anness Purdy and Veronica Dorothy Brennan Purdy. He was married to the late Joann Monaco Purdy. Jerry was a graduate of North Babylon High School and attended C.W. Post College in New York. He was the owner of Scott Vale Metal Products in Bohemia, NY for 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Jerry, along with others, was passionate about making sure the cats at the Anderson Civic Center were fed. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Ann Purdy-Pyeron (Terrance) of Virginia; his partner of several years, Margaret Ann Fox of Anderson, SC; brothers, Richard Lawrence Purdy of Beaufort, SC and John Edwards Purdy of Connecticut; and sister, Edna Marilyn Purdy-Bertucci of Nevada; sister in law, Shelley Monaco; and brother in law, Richard Monaco. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Scott Richard Purdy; and two brothers. A prayer service will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 5:00pm in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Flowers are optional and memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County Humane Society, 407 Pearman Dairy Rd, Anderson, SC 29625 in honor of Jerry Purdy.
