Obituary

Gerhard Otto Schottle, age 88, of Pendleton, SC, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at his

home.

His sons and a grandson were with him, and for his last days he was surrounded by loving family and close friends who will miss him dearly. He was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed visits and adventures with them all over the world.

He was born January 25, 1937, in Boblingen, Germany and was the son of the late Hans Georg Schottle and the late Gertrud (Haas) Schottle.

After completing a 5-year apprenticeship as a tool and die maker, Gerhard emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1957, and then later moved to the United States in 1968. He became a U.S. citizen in 1980. Prior to moving to Pendleton, South Carolina he lived in Michigan for many years, where he ran his own business designing and creating plastic molds for a huge variety of products. In Pendleton, he continued to work as both a mold designer and consultant for the auto industry. He loved sports of all kinds and was an avid skier, boater, motorcyclist, hunter, scuba diver, and fisherman.

He is survived by his sons, Stuart H. Schottle (Deedee) and Rolf G. Schottle (Liz), his grandchildren Aaron Schottle and Nicholas Schottle; and brother Hans W. Schottle. Also surviving him are the other grandchildren of his life, beloved people he has known all their lives. There are also important people he has loved for years- you know who you are, and you were precious to him. Your care and friendship have been very moving in his life.
