GLADYS O'BEERA COUCH Gladys O'Beera Timms Couch, age 93, of 114 Collingwood Drive, went to be with her Lord upon her death at NHC of Anderson on Thursday, June 19, 2014. Born on February 21, 1921 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. Timms and the late Icie C. Smith Timms. For 59 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Francis A. Couch until his death in 1999. She was employed as a sales associate with Smith Drug Store, and was Department Manager at W. T. Grant Department Store. Mrs. Couch was a charter member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday School for 46 years and was a member of the church choir for approximately 30 years. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and was a life member of the 94th Infantry Division Association Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Couch was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She. is survived by 2 sons, Alvin Lee Couch of Roswell, GA, and Charles Calvin Couch of Frederick, MD; 2 brothers, Charles Timms and his wife, Edna, of Anderson and Samuel Timms and his wife, Elizabeth of Douglasville, GA; a sister, Betty Moore of Anderson; a grandson, John Samuel Couch and his wife, Mandy, of Kennesaw, GA; a great granddaughter, Ansley Michelle Couch of Kennesaw, GA; also surviving are nieces and nephews too numerous to list. In addition to her parents and her husband, Francis, O'Beera was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Clair Lee, Hoyt, Lewis, and Lovis Timms; 2 sisters, Agatha Brown and Cornelia Spearman. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Gladys O'Beera Couch will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 3 PM, at Forest Hills Baptist Church, with Rev. Tom Owen and Rev. Roger Couch officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Flowers are optional or contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
