MURPHY April 28, 1930 - May 12, 2008WILLIAMSTON, SCMrs. Gladys Jean Foster Murphy, age 78 of 110 Estelle Drive, died Monday, May 12, 2008 at NHC HealthCare of Anderson. Born in Pendleton, SC on April 28, 1930, Mrs. Murphy was a daughter of the late J. D. Foster and Katie Elizabeth 'Bessie' Gailey Foster. She worked for over 30 years at Wellington Mill and Toxaway Abney Mill. She attended Gethsemane Baptist Temple.Survivors include sons, Samuel Eugene Murphy of Anderson, David Lamar Murphy, of Starr and Edward Leroy Murphy of Williamston; daughters, Mary M. Bailey of Belton and Jane Elaine Brown of Williamston; brothers, James Foster of Pickens and Charles Foster of Anderson; sister, Mary Nell Owen of Liberty. Nine grandchildren, including Tiffiny Murphy and Brooke Murphy, who where raised in the home; ten great-grandchildren and many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren also survive.She was predeceased by a sister, Willie Mae Cantrell and her former husband, Samuel L. Murphy. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Temple officiated by the Reverend Sam Duncan. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mrs. Murphy will be placed in the church at 2:00 pm on Thursday.The family will be at the residence.
