GLENDA CAREY April 22, 1941 - October 1, 2006IVA, SCMrs. Glenda Gail Carithers Carey, age 65, wife of Billy Carey of 27 East Central Avenue, Iva, SC was promoted to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 1, 2006 from the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Anderson County, SC on April 22, 1941, Mrs. Carey was a daughter of the late Ernest C. Carithers and Betsy Mobley Carithers. She was a 1959 graduate of T. L. Hanna High School and was retired from Iva Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Pre-Kindergarten Sunday School class for 20 years and served as President of the Women's Ministry for 12 years. She is survived by her husband, Billy Carey of the home; sons, Robert Lee Carey and his wife, Alecia Gail and their children, Jonathon and Alexis all of Townville, SC; Calvin Wayne Carey of Iva; a brother, Marshall Carithers of Anderson, SC and a sister, Geraldine C. Howell of Anderson, SC.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Carithers and two sisters, Betty Jo Hooie and Emma Osborne.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 3:00 pm at Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by the Reverends Billy Pinson and Charles D. Howell, Jr. Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mrs. Carey will be placed in the church at 2:00 pm on Wednesday.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
