Gloria Thurow Davis Hauser of Fair Play, SC, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017. Born in Aurora, Illinois on August 7, 1930, she received her B.A. Degree from the University of California Berkeley, followed by 2 years of Ethnographic Research living with the Baoule' people in Cte d'Ivoire, French West Africa. She received her B.S. Degree in Nursing from Columbia University in New York and taught nursing in Aurora, Illinois and Winchester, Virginia. In addition to her parents, Carl Thurow and Lora Schoeberlein Thurow, Gloria was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Ray C. Thurow and Don R. Thurow; and her husbands, Robert Davis and Bill Hauser. She is survived by her daughter, Lora Lynn Davis Roa of Raleigh, NC; her son, Edward Carl Davis of Greer, SC; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held from 2:45 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. at Fair Play Presbyterian Church on Thursday, September 21, 2017. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall from 3:15 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Reverend Mel Davis will officiate the service. On Tuesday, September 26, 2017 the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL and a graveside service, officiated by Tom Noll, will be held on Wednesday September 27, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Cemetery, Aurora, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621, or to a church or charity of one's choice.
