Gordon Emerson Chambers, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Richard Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home. Born in Clover, SC, he was the son of the late Clyde Clifton Chambers, Sr. and the late Estelle Stewart Chambers. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Radarman aboard the USS Abele during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from the Louis P. Batson Company in Greenville, SC. He was a faithful member of Eureka Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher as well as on numerous other committees. Gordon is survived by his wife, Angie Humphries Chambers; children, Betty Jo Burriss, Brenda Giles, Michael Chambers, and Debbie Solesbee; seven grandchildren, Ron, David, Russell, Brent, Deonne, Jaclyn, and Chase; and eight great-grandchildren; step-children, Pam Boling, Tim Hopkins, Dan Hopkins, and Sam Hopkins, and their children and grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Powell, Dot Fowler, and Eunice Fuller. He is also survived by his beloved Beagle, Big Boy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo Watt Chambers; brothers, Havern Chambers, Clyde Clifton Chambers, Jr.; sisters, Louise Gibson, Patsy Campbell, and Frances Rouda. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Eureka Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Ron Fousek and Reverend Dr. Jason Moss officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors.
