Gordon Edward Laing passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 13, 1935 in Franklin Park, IL to Edward and Thelma Laing. He was the oldest of three children and is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill. His sister Beverly Smith resides in Forsyth, MO.

Gordon proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army. After basic training he was stationed at White Sands, NM where he worked on missiles.

Gordon was a man of strong faith and was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Koinonia Sunday School Class in Anderson, SC. He was loved and admired by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sherryl Brown Laing of Anderson, SC, his six (6) children, Joe Laing (Tammy) of Jefferson, OH; Kirk Laing (Marianne) of Florence, SC; Ken Laing (Lorraine) of Hanahan, SC; Doug Laing (Shannon) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Angela Laing Hall (Tracy) of Anderson, SC; Michele Laing Ramsey (Ben) of Lula, GA; as well as 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Mitchell and Rev. Joe Laing officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00-1:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of Trinity UMC, 1809 N. Main St., Anderson, SC 29621, or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
