GRADY L. "JUDGE" BAXTER January 6, 1941 - January 22, 2013 Grady Levone "Judge" Baxter, age 72, of 104 Shirley Street, died peacefully with his family by his side at AnMed Health Medical Center on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Ira Sanford Baxter and the late Annie Louise Ivester Baxter. For over 52 years, he was the faithful and devoted husband of Patsy Hurt "Pat" Baxter of the residence. "Judge" was a graduate of Boys High School, Class of 1960. He was retired from Michelin in Sandy Springs after 25 years of service. Mr. Baxter was a Godly man, and a faithful member of Hope Fellowship Church where he was a head usher. He loved his church and the work he did in the church, especially witnessing for the Lord. Prior to membership at Hope Fellowship, he was a charter member of Cornerstone Assembly of God where he was a Deacon. In his spare time, he enjoyed trout fishing, often with his wife, Pat and brother Bobby. Back in the 1960's "Judge" was a Scout Leader, a position in which he influenced the lives of many young men. In addition to his wife, Pat, Mr. Baxter is survived by a son, Tim "Opie" Baxter of Anderson; 2 daughters, Sandra McCarley and husband, Dale, of Anderson, Melissa Moseley and husband, Sandy, of Belton; 3 brothers, Larry Baxter and wife, Janie, of Starr, Rev. Olin Baxter and wife, Betty, of Anderson, Bobby Baxter and wife, Joanne, of Anderson; 5 grandchildren, Adrianne McCarley, Caleb McCarley, Andrew Fowler, Zack Moseley, and Brandi Moseley; a sister-in-law, Jean Baxter of Anderson; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baxter was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Baxter, and 3 sisters, Billie Simpson, Frances Smith and Alma Smith. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Grady L. Baxter will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2 PM at the McDougald Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark Gasque officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 5 PM until 7 PM.
