Grady S. Carpenter, age 85, died at Richard Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home on September 28, 2016. He was born on February 1, 1931 in Forest City, NC. He was the son of the late Allma and Grady Carpenter. Grady was retired from The Anderson Independent Mail and worked for The Greenville News for several years. Grady served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War from 1950 - 1954. He is survived by his wife Laura Doyle Carpenter; a son, Doyle Carpenter and his wife Judy. He is also survived by a daughter Kathy Lancaster, three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. Services will be held at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
