Betty Jean Yon Sanders, age 95, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at her home.

Born May 11, 1928, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late George Ben Yon and Mattie Sue Campbell Yon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Otis Sanders; son, Douglas Williamson; brother, George Robert Yon; and sisters, Faye Smith and Wilma Brown.

Betty formerly worked at Anderson Mill as a weaver for 40 years. She was a cook for 20 years in the child development centers at Centerville Baptist Church, Covenant Baptist Church, and Graceview Church. She was affectionately known to many at "Granny Betty". She was a 65-year faithful member of Homeland Park Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for both adults and children and was the former WMU Director for 40 years. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her granddaughter and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Sanders; sisters, Helen Spradlin and Mae Wilson; granddaughter, Susan Bryant (Randy); great grandsons, Chris Watkins, Caleb Carroll, and Koleman Bryant (Brittany); great-great granddaughter, Kennedy Grace Watkins; and special family friend Al Harrell.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Robbie Smith and Rev. Phil Sears officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
