May 25, 1932 - January 3, 2006ANDERSON, SCMr. Green Berry McElrath, Jr., age 73, husband of Helen Whitten McElrath of 412 Hill Street, Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, January 03, 2006 at the Hospice House in Anderson. Born in Piedmont, SC on May 25, 1932, Mr. McElrath was a son of the late Green Berry McElrath, Sr., and Pearl Whitt McElrath. He was retired from Appleton Mill and was a member of Starr Wood Golf Club. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple, and president of his Sunday School class 'Class with a Heart'.Survivors include his wife, Helen Whitten McElrath of the home; a son, Michael Eugene McElrath of Anderson, SC; a daughter, Angela Alexander of Spartanburg, SC; two step-sons, Steve Snelgrove of Anderson, SC and Mike Snelgrove of Forest City, NC; three brothers, Harold McElrath, James McElrath, and Johnny McElrath, all of Anderson, SC; a sister, Bonnie Beebe, of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Ann McElrath and Dora Jean Chambers.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Temple officiated by the Rev. Sam Duncan, Rev. John M. Daniel and Dr. Benny Spears. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Anderson, SC.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mr. McElrath will be placed in the church at 1:00 pm on Thursday.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
