Gregory "Keith" Smith, 71, of Anderson, South Carolina was called home on Saturday, February 28, 2026, after a brief illness.

His lifelong service to the community was made clear by his 47 years in law enforcement. He attended the FBI Academy, and received a Masters of Criminal Justice from Anderson University. He retired from law enforcement not once nor twice, but three times, mentoring generations of law enforcement officers. Always serving with compassion and integrity, his law enforcement legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched.

He is survived by the love of his life, his angel Brenda; sons, Craig (Michele) and Eric; grandchildren, Cole & Sunnie Smith; brothers, James Smith and Toby Smith; sister-in law, Barbara Bench and her children Jennifer and Josh. He was a source of love and wisdom for a large extended family, stepping in to be the father-figure everyone needed.

He is preceded in death by James and Mary Frances Smith.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
