Gwendolyn R. Stokes, age 84, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born February 17, 1941, in Martinsburg, WV, she was a daughter of the late Donald Edward Bascue and Eileen Sturm Bascue. She was also preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Bill and Linda Bascue.

Gwen formerly worked in labor and delivery at Anderson Area Medical Center. Later in her working career, she partnered with her husband as co-owners and operators of Panther Transportation. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and often did clothing alterations. She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, served on the security team, and helped in many other areas and activities of the church.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Toth; children, Cinderella L. Newton (Allen), Donald E. Stokes, and Richard C. Stokes, II; sister, Nancy Glenn (Bob); 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 1:00-1:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steve Silvey officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
