James Harold Beard, age 89, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at his home. Born in Calhoun Falls, SC on March 27, 1927, he was the son of the late James Washington Beard and the late Estelle Cobb Beard. He was a supervisor at Wellington Mill for more than 43 years. Harold was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Anne Berryman Beard, of the home; a son, Dr. James H. Beard, Jr. (Dawn), of Greenville, SC; a daughter, Gail Beard King (Randy), of Starr, SC; two sisters, Virginia Beard Jones, of Anderson, SC and Marlene Beard Loehr, of Hendersonville, NC; six grandchildren, Jessica Ciho (Andrej), Paul King (Danae), Lauren Beard, Dr. Celeste Beaudoin (Joe), Chelsea Beard, and Rachael Beard; ten great-grandchildren, Kaiya, Tobi, Eli, Jakob, and Emma Hope Ciho, Zak and Kolby Tippett, Guy King, James and Henry Beaudoin. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Varennes Heights Baptist Church, 411 Visage Drive, Anderson, SC 29626.
